In the ever-burgeoning area of contests where you “vote” on which non-profit gets money or prizes from some bigwig somebody, there are three noteworthy contests affecting area organizations, but you gotta vote by Aug. 31.
America’s Favorite Farmer’s Market for Market Square Farmers’ Market
The prizes range from a shipment of No Farms No Food® tote bags to free printing and graphic design services. So far we’re not even in the Top 20, which would require only 200 or so votes! The leader in our category (large markets) currently has more than 4,000 votes.

$100,000 Coca-Cola in the Community prize for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
GSMNP already has 71,000 votes and is in second... but the winning Bear Head Lake State Park has more than 120,000 votes. If the lead proves insurmountable, you can still donate My Coke Rewards® points to the National Park Foundation until Aug. 31.

$250,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant for the Brown Dog Foundation
Nashville-based Brown Dog Foundation (organized locally by veterinarian Lisa Chassy) supports families faced with euthanizing a critically injured or ill pet due to a temporary financial crisis. They’ve helped save 100 pets and would like to reach 1,500.
Vote by texting 101781 to Pepsi (73774) or at refresheverything.com/browndogfoundation.
